NVT In conversation with… about Radiation

This is the title of the lecture that François van Langevelde will give at Thursday March 20th in the residence. Starts at 6:00 pm, entrance Wireless road
Light is only the visual part of the radiation palette, which contains a multitude of “colours”, including infrared and X-rays.
Special attention will be paid to so-called ionizing radiation, because of the harmful effects of exposure, especially through medical diagnostic or therapeutic treatments.
François van Langevelde is experimental nuclear physicist
worked at a spin-off of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, closely involved in innovations for the production of medical radionuclides using particle accelerators (Cyclotrons).
As a radiation expert, he was also responsible for the required permits under the Nuclear Energy Act, for the radiation protection of workers, the public and the environment.
He also laid the foundation for the necessary shielding of the “medical” cyclotrons in the newly built Amsterdam UMC Imaging Center in 2019.
He also has approximately 30 scientific publications associated with him, with over 500 citations.
